As enthusiasts of all things Audemars Piguet will recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger made headlines earlier this year after being detained at Munich Airport for failing to declare an exclusive subvariant of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph "End of Days," limited to just 20 pieces for the entire global market.

After raising nearly $300,000 for charity at auction, that semi-infamous example elevated the limited edition to heightened territory within collecting circles. Bezel is now pleased to present the second example offered publicly at auction.

The "End of Days" story traces back to the 1999 film of the same name, in which Arnold Schwarzenegger famously wore an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Ref. 25770SN. Crafted out of PVD steel, and secured to the wrist with a textile strap, the now highly collectible chronograph was limited to 500 pieces and became known by the nickname "End of Days."

Then in 2023, AP stunned collectors with a modern reimagining of the "End of Days," celebrating the Royal Oak Offshore's 30th anniversary in a limited of 500 pieces, in an updated contemporary case measuring 43 mm across. On its own, the watch is sought after and highly attractive, however, the watch presented here is an even more exclusive edition of just 20 pieces total.

Unlike the more commonly seen "End of Days" reissue, produced in a limited series of just 500 examples, this seldom seen reference is distinguished by its commemorative rotor executed in solid 18k yellow gold, depicting Schwarzenegger himself alongside text which reads "Arnold Classic."

Offered as a full-set, this rare Audemars Piguet includes both straps originally sold with the watch, as well as its original boxes, papers, hang tags, and warranty card. For the collector of scarce Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs, this clean and complete example presents an unrivaled opportunity.

Guided by an estimate of $75,000 - $90,000, the Audemars Piguet End of Days "Arnold Classic" is now available at auction, ending on the morning of Wednesday, March 27th 2024.
