For most of this year the top of the list has been a conversation between two watches. The Bruce Wayne and the black Submariner Date have traded number one since winter, each stepping back only to return. In August one of them didn’t return. What moved into the space it left says more about the month than any single ranking: a green Submariner up to second, and a Tudor landing at third in its first appearance.
The no-date Submariner returns after two months away, back where it debuted in the spring. Its blue-and-black bezel and Jubilee bracelet still hold a particular appeal among GMT buyers weighing it against the Batman, and while it has cooled from the second-place finish it managed in June, its steady reappearances suggest a watch that rarely stays away for long.
The Moonwatch drops from second to seventh, closing out the four-month climb that made it the story of July. A fall like this can look dramatic on paper, but the Moonwatch has spent the year moving between the middle and the top of the list without ever leaving it. It remains the only Omega collectors keep pulling back into the rankings, and August reads as a breather in a long, steady run.
The previous-generation Submariner holds its place in the lower half, appearing for the fourth time this year. With the current 126610LN gone, the older reference is the closest thing to a standard black Submariner on the list this month. Its slightly different case proportions have long given it an identity of its own, and in August that identity had the Submariner name largely to itself.
The ceramic Daytona holds at fifth for a second consecutive month. Its white dial and black subdials remain the configuration most collectors reach for first, and the stability of its position suggests a reference that has found its level. After climbing through early summer, the Panda has settled into place.
The Explorer II Polar reaches fourth, its best placement yet and the third straight appearance in which it's climbed. Its white dial, orange 24-hour hand, and fixed steel bezel set it apart from everything around it, a tool watch built for a specific job rather than broad appeal. Whether the climb continues or levels off, three consecutive months of upward movement is the clearest trajectory any watch on the list can claim right now.
The Pelagos 39 debuts at third, the highest a Tudor has ever placed on this list and only the second the brand has landed here at all, after the Black Bay 58 GMT earlier in the year. Its grade 2 titanium case keeps it light on the wrist while its ceramic bezel and 200 meters of water resistance make clear it is built to dive. What stands out is the placement. A Tudor arriving above the Moonwatch, the Daytona, and every GMT except the Bruce Wayne marks a real shift in where collectors are willing to spend their attention.
The Starbucks climbs to second, matching the highest it's ever placed and posting its strongest showing of the year. Its green bezel and black dial have kept it in steady rotation for months, but this is the first time in 2026 it's pushed into the upper reaches of the list rather than its middle. With the standard Submariner Date out of the picture, the Starbucks became the reference collectors turned to for the Submariner silhouette, and it answered by climbing higher than it has in nearly a year.
The Bruce Wayne holds number one for a second straight month, and with it claims a seventh first-place finish across the sixteen months this series has tracked, more than any other watch. In a month when the reference that usually shares the summit with it fell away completely, the Bruce Wayne didn’t so much as flinch, and its place at the top has stopped looking like a contest at all.
