SPOTLIGHT: Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, and Gwyneth Paltrow Can’t Get Enough of These Women’s Watches

While women were the first to wear wristwatches back in the early 20th century, it’s been far too long since the industry seriously asked itself what women really want from a watch.

With the question now finally being addressed in a more significant way, the world of watches is now undergoing a revolution, and you could say it’s about time! As is often the case in the slow-moving world of watchmaking, it’s the collectors, in this case, the female collectors, who are leading the charge for change, and helping realize more compelling options for women who covet truly exciting, serious collector’s pieces.

Bulgari Serpenti Tubogas

Knowing the level of precision and craftsmanship that goes into the manufacturing, assembly, and finishing of the Serpenti Tubogas, it’s just about impossible to not fall in love. That’s why this watch holds a special place in history as the choice of one of the silver screen’s most enduring legends, Elizabeth Taylor, who notably wore the watch while filming Cleopatra in Rome.

From an engineering standpoint, the watch is one of horology’s great marvels, assembled without any soldering of the bracelet, which mimics the appearance of a serpent wrapped around the wrist. With new variants of the collection being introduced, including the Misteriosi line that incorporates a micro-mechanical movement, it’s safe to say the industry is acknowledging the oncoming rush of female collectors who deserve the very best.

Panthère de Cartier

The Panthère de Cartier is the it girl watch, and if you’re not convinced, just take a closer look at recent fit pics of some of our favorite it girls. From Bella Hadid, to Dua Lipa, to Gwyneth Paltrow and Sienna Miller, there’s truly no shortage of star power behind the Panthère, and for good reason. Striking the perfect balance between a useful watch and a chic piece of jewelry, that’s easily dressed up and down, it’s just so hard to beat.

As a time tested icon, it’s tough to argue that the Panthère is in need of any revision, but for added bragging rights and a dash of additional sophistication, we’d love to see a mechanical movement in future Panthère releases. Having said that, not having to keep your watch’s movement wound also has its benefits.

Rolex Lady Datejust and Oyster Perpetual

One of the Rolex’s greatest strengths is its commitment to furthering the star power of its already iconic watches by avoiding drastic changes in design. It’s for this reason that the Lady Datejust enjoys such incomparable status, and attracts a glamorous clientele. Well aware that no two ladies are alike, Rolex offers a wide range of bezel, dial, and bracelet options so the watch can be configured just as you want it. This also makes collecting the model all the more exciting, as there’s no shortage of different variants to continually keep you occupied.

Having said that, many of the brand’s other lines have taken on unisex appeal in recent years, largely thanks to the incorporation of more feminine details in their designs. The brightly colored, popping dials of the Oyster Perpetual collection are a great example, produced in a number of different sizes to suit different wrists, affording the line a playful and inclusive overall feel. If this same spirit is to be expected from future Rolex releases, we can’t wait.
